My Superbowl Pick: Taters

Given that I am a marketing professional, I probably should comment on the biggest event in advertising–the Superbowl commercials.  I realize that the Superbowl took place over a week ago, but I was giving my choice considerable thought (read: I was being lazy).

To tell you the truth, I wasn’t blown away by any one advertisement.  However, I did think that Bridgestone’s Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head commercial was funny and effective:

This commercial taps into something that almost all American couples understand–driving with your significant other can be stressful! The commercial is an entertaining mix of reality and fantasy that communicates Bridgestone’s message quite effectively. The commercial is also in line with Bridgestone’s previous “Squirrel” Superbowl commercial:

Of course, most people will not run out to buy brand new Bridgestone tires after seeing the commercial.  However, the advertisement does build brand recognition and recall, both important things for Bridgestone.

What was your favorite Superbowl commercial?
