Day #3: 29-Day Giving Challenge

Posted by Kate on February 5th, 2009. Filed under: 29-Day Giving Challenge.

I ♥ my books! I’m an avid reader, and it’s very hard for me to part with my books. I keep every book I read even though I am not one to re-read books.  I’ve justified my book hoarding by convincing myself that I will one day have a room in my home dedicated to the books I’ve read and collected over the years.  And, really, it’s not like I’m collecting expensive designer clothes or shoes (although, I have WAY TOO many shoes).

So, on day three of my giving challenge, I’ve decided to give away some of my precious books to the local library. This morning, I went through my bookcase and pulled out the books that I wanted to give.

Then, on my lunch break, I dropped the books off at my local library. The bulletin board above the book donation drop-off bin noted that the library would be happy to receive audio books, CDs, and DVDs as well.  I guess that could be a “give” another day!

I hope that my South Jersey neighbors enjoy the books!

I’ve had a crate of children’s books (most from when I was teaching, but some from the Mrs. Adinolfi days at OLGC!) just sitting in a corner of my apartment for forever and finally decided to do something with them this past Monday. Instead of taking them to Goodwill, where I usually take my clothes, I found a used book store that buys books. Offered $3 cash or $12 store credit, I def took the store credit. Anyway, I understand how hard it is to part with books!
